The mechanical principle of the twin-drum coater
Designed to meet the specific needs of powder coating, dusting and powdering…
The twin-turbine coater is based on a double-body cylinder in which two flexible-thread screws rotate in opposite directions. This configuration ensures continuous and homogeneous mixing between the base product and the powder ingredient.
No agglomeration, no overdosing.
Ideal for fine food powders with small particle sizes

Frequently asked questions - Food powder coating
Continuous coating is an industrial process that applies a uniform layer of powder — such as icing sugar, fine salt, seasoning, or flavouring — onto a food product moving along a production line. Unlike batch coating, continuous coating never stops: products are coated one after another at high throughput, with no interruption to the production line.
A twin-drum coater is a coating machine based on a double-body cylinder in which two flexible-thread screws rotate in opposite directions. This mechanical action distributes powder uniformly and consistently over each product as it passes through — without applying strong mechanical stress. The result is a homogeneous coating on every piece, at every throughput level, with no agglomeration and no overdosing.

The twin-drum coater is ideal for a wide range of food products: doughnuts, churros, pretzels, crisps, popcorn, crackers, coated nuts, marshmallows, waffles, madeleines, coated seeds, and many more. It is suitable for any product that requires a uniform coating of fine powder — whether sugar, salt, seasoning, or flavouring.
The twin-drum coater is designed for fine food powders with small particle sizes, including icing sugar, fine sugar, fine salt, spice blends, seasoning mixes, flavouring powders, and decorative coatings. It is optimised for powders that require precise, homogeneous application without clumping or overdosing.
Yes. The twin-drum coater applies coating without strong mechanical stress, making it suitable for fragile products such as doughnuts, churros, and delicate pastry items. Over 95% of products exit the machine intact, with zero unnecessary breakage and zero avoidable product loss.
The twin-drum coater can be fitted with an integrated powder recovery and sieving system. Powder that is not deposited onto the product is automatically collected, sieved and re-injected into the coating circuit. This closed-loop system eliminates material waste and reduces powder consumption significantly.
The twin-drum coater can process up to 15,000 pieces per hour per machine. For higher production volumes, machines can be operated in a battery of 2 to 3 units side by side, sharing a single powder dosing and recycling system — reaching up to 30,000 pieces per hour with zero duplication of equipment.
The twin-drum coater is a turnkey solution, but every installation is configured around your specific production constraints — product type, coating powder, throughput, line layout, and hygiene requirements. We do not sell off-the-shelf systems. Each project is studied and dimensioned by our team before any recommendation is made.
When you contact us, one of our coating experts will analyse your project and provide a free, no-obligation implementation study. This covers your product type and coating powder, your target throughput, your line layout and constraints, and a recommended configuration for your twin-drum coating system.
